The Zeliangrong Youth Organization Nagaland (ZYON) has delivered a stark four-day ultimatum to the state gioverbnment, demanding immediate action in the investigation of the April 7 rape and murder case that occurred in Mhaikam village, Peren district. The group is insisting on the prompt release of the post-mortem and forensic reports, alongside the swift apprehension of all individuals involved in the crime.
The ultimatum was the central message conveyed during a peace rally held in Jalukie on Thursday. Addressing the gathering, ZYON President R. John Zeliang made it clear that failure to meet these demands within the stipulated timeframe would be met with escalated protests.
“If the government fails to act within four days from today, we will organize another rally—and this time, it will not be a peace rally,” John warned, emphasizing the potential for more disruptive action if their demands are ignored. He further stated that the state government would bear full responsibility for any untoward incidents arising from subsequent protests.

- Enhanced Security Measures: The implementation of stronger security protocols to prevent future crimes, including increased police presence and a dedicated task force for crimes against women and children.
- Victim Compensation and Support: The provision of financial aid under the Victim Compensation Scheme, along with counseling and rehabilitation services for the victim’s family, in accordance with legal provisions.
- Accountability for Negligence: Action against any officials or individuals found to have contributed to the incident through negligence or complicity.
