As Maharashtra heads toward pivotal assembly elections, the Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) Alliance on Sunday unveiled an ambitious manifesto, introducing its “5 Guarantees for Maharashtra.”
The manifesto covers several key areas—women’s empowerment, economic equality, family health, agricultural support, and youth development—emphasizing MVA’s vision for inclusive progress and prosperity across the state.
On the occasion, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, alongside Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut and NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule, introduced the manifesto’s five core pillars, describing them as the foundation of Maharashtra’s future.
Kharge expressed optimism that this election could catalyze change on a national scale, stating, “Every section of the state, including farmers, women, and youth, will thrive under the Maha Vikas Aghadi.”
Highlights of MVA’s “5 Guarantees for Maharashtra”:
1. Mahalakshmi Scheme for Women
Offering a monthly allowance of ₹3,000 and free bus services statewide, the Mahalakshmi Scheme is designed to uplift women, promote economic independence, and improve mobility for millions of women across Maharashtra.
2. Caste Census & Reservation Reforms
Addressing calls for equitable representation, the MVA pledges a caste census and the removal of the 50% reservation cap, aimed at increasing fairness and opportunity in the reservation system.
3. Enhanced Health Coverage
Each family will benefit from health insurance up to ₹25 lakh, ensuring access to quality healthcare and strengthening financial security in medical emergencies.
4. Farmer Support Package
To ease the burden on farmers, the MVA promises loan waivers of up to ₹3 lakh, alongside a ₹50,000 reward for timely repayment, encouraging financial responsibility in the agricultural community.
5. Youth Unemployment Assistance
Acknowledging youth unemployment, the MVA commits to a monthly allowance of ₹4,000 for unemployed young people, offering crucial support and aiding in their transition to stable careers.
With these guarantees, MVA envisions a robust, inclusive Maharashtra, setting the stage for policies that promote equality and growth while reinforcing the state’s progressive legacy.
