Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), has started a dialogue process with the for restoration of peace in Manipur . In a high-level meeting on February 17, 2025, TIM’s President and General Secretary met with i AK Mishra, Advisor (Northeast) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, at his North Block office in New Delhi.
In a press release, the Thadou leadership claimed that the meeting focused on addressing the devastating impact of violence that has gripped Manipur since May 3, 2023—a crisis that has not only led to significant loss of life and property but also disproportionately affected the Thadou community. TIM presented a comprehensive peace roadmap, emphasizing the urgent need for non-violent resolutions and long-term stability in the region.

During the discussion, TIM underscored the futility of continued violence and detailed the untold sufferings of the Thadou tribe—one of Manipur’s largest and most influential communities. The organization reiterated its firm stance on the distinct identity of the Thadou people, clarifying that “Thadou is not Kuki, or underneath Kuki, or part of Kuki, but a separate, independent entity.” This assertion comes in response to ongoing misconceptions and systematic disinformation that have blurred the unique cultural and ethnic identity of the Thadou community.

AK Mishra acknowledged the concerns raised by TIM and expressed deep appreciation for the tribe’s commitment to peace. He highlighted the government’s ongoing peace efforts in the Northeast while noting the importance of recognizing and respecting the distinct identity of the Thadou people.
The meeting also shed light on the critical role of the Thadou community as peace-makers, even in the face of threats and violent attacks from anti-peace elements determined to erase their identity. TIM’s leadership stressed that any organization misrepresenting the Thadou identity by associating it with the Kuki community is illegitimate and does not truly represent the interests of the Thadou people—a message echoed during the Thadou Convention 2024.
With its roots firmly planted in the belief that “Truth Triumphs,” TIM continues to advocate for peaceful solutions and the safeguarding of Manipur’s diverse cultural fabric. The organization’s call for lasting peace comes at a time when the state is desperately in need of cohesive, community-driven initiatives to end the cycle of violence.
