The Mahindra Thar Roxx was evaluated by the Bharat NCAP in crash tests and achieved a commendable 5-star rating for protecting both adult and child occupants. The Thar Roxx, XUV 3XO, and XUV 400 EV are the initial Mahindra SUVs evaluated by Bharat NCAP, with the Roxx scoring the most points among all ICE-powered vehicles tested by BNCAP to date.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Safety Attributes
Bharat NCAP has evaluated the entry-level MX3 and the intermediate-level AX5 L versions of the Thar Roxx, with the rating being applicable to all models of the SUV. The Thar Roxx comes with six airbags, reminders for all passengers, ESC, ISOFIX anchors, and a passenger-side airbag cut-off switch as standard features. The Thar Roxx meets the AIS-100 pedestrian protection regulations as well. Its highest-end models also come with an ADAS package. The Thar Roxx is significant as it is the inaugural body-on-frame SUV to undergo testing by Bharat NCAP.

Mahindra Thar Roxx Adult Occupant Protection
The Thar Roxx achieved a score of 31.09 out of 32 for adult occupant protection, making it the second highest AOP score from Bharat NCAP after the Tata Punch EV (31.46/32 points). The report observed that the level of protection for the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck area was commendable, while the protection for the driver’s chest and knee region was considered satisfactory.
The Roxx obtained a score of 15.09 out of a possible 16.00 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. In the movable barrier test, the Roxx received a perfect score of 16.00, providing excellent overall protection. It received an OK rating in the side pole impact test. The Roxx also met ESC test regulations.
Mahindra Thar Roxx Child Occupant Protection
In terms of child occupant protection, the Thar Roxx, Tata Punch EV, both scored 45 out of 49 points, which is the highest score achieved to date. It achieved perfect scores in the dynamic test (24/24) and CRS installation test (12/12) and received a 9 out of 13 in the vehicle assessment test. Both the child dummies aged 18 months and 3 years were evaluated in rearward-facing car seats placed in the front passenger seat, fastened with ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg.
