Today in Delhi, the anti-drugs agency seized over 80 kg of top-quality cocaine valued at around ₹ 900 crore. The confiscation of the party drug, described as one of the “largest amounts of cocaine in Delhi,” occurred during a joint operation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Navy, and Gujarat ATS that resulted in the discovery of approximately 700 kg of Methamphetamine off the Gujarat coast.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the seizures, describing them as indicative of the government’s commitment to creating a “drug-free Bharat”.

The NCB revealed that the seizure in the capital city was a result of months of following leads from previous seizures in March and August.

“Following up on the leads uncovered during the seizures in March and August 2024, and utilizing both technical and human intelligence, the NCB successfully traced the origin of the contraband, resulting in the recovery of 82.53 kg of premium-quality cocaine from Janakpuri and Nangloi,” it said.

One person was arrested as police seized MD contraband and 427 kg of suspected drugs worth ₹14 lakh from a factory in Gujarat’s Bharuch district in late October, as per an official on Monday. An individual was taken into custody in relation to that matter, with additional inquiries currently being conducted, as per a statement from an official to news agency PTI.

Materials suspected to be from ‘Avasar Enterprise’ in Ankleshwar GIDC area have been sent to a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for verification, according to Special Operations Group (SOG) police inspector Anand Chaudhary.

Earlier, the Gujarat and Delhi police collaborated in seizing over 500 kg of cocaine worth ₹5,000 crore from Avkar Drugs Limited factory in Ankleshwar on October 13. Weeks after the Delhi Police raided a warehouse in the national capital, they seized a shipment of 562 kg cocaine and 40 kg hydroponic marijuana.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
