Arvind Kejriwal arrested by CBI in liquor policy scam; withdraws bail plea
The CBI arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy case on Wednesday after the Rouse Avenue Court allowed the agency to examine the AAP supremo in court.
Following the arrest, Kejriwal withdrew the petition filed in the Supreme Court challenging the order passed by the Delhi High Court staying his bail in the money laundering case.
Kejriwal was arrested by the ED in the money laundering case stemming from alleged liquor policy scam on March 21. He is presently in Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

CBI demands custody of Arvind Kejriwal
During the trial court hearing, the CBI stated that Kejriwal’s custody was required to confront him with papers. The CBI further stated that Kejriwal blamed former Delhi Minister Manish Sisodia for the privatization, claiming that it was his idea.
The CBI also said that Kejriwal stated that Vijay Nair, the AAP’s former communication in-charge and an accused in the case, worked for Atishi and Saurabh Bhardwaj.
“The Chief Minister did not accept any ministry but has his hand in everything,” the CBI lawyer stated.
Kejriwal’s lawyer, Vikram Chaudhari, objected to the CBI’s summons, claiming he was not aware that the CBI had filed an application with the court and obtained an order to examine him.
“The manner in which this has been done is of grave concern. Please allow us access to the documents and defer this hearing to tomorrow… Heavens will not fall if we file a reply,” Kejriwal’s counsel said.
The CBI obtained Kejriwal’s statement from jail on June 25 and requested that he appear before the trial court on Wednesday.
The CBI, backed by senior counsel DP Singh, stated that the inquiry was the agency’s prerogative and that the law did not require the accused to be informed.
