India Preparing for Operation Sindoor 2.0: Army Chief

NEW DELHI, May 30, 2026:  Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said the Indian armed forces are actively preparing for “Operation Sindoor 2.0,” while making it clear that the military posture adopted after Pakistan-backed provocations remains firmly in place.

Speaking to ANI, General Dwivedi said Operation Sindoor was “still continuing” and described the present situation as merely a “temporary cessation of hostilities,” signalling that the armed forces remain on high operational alert.

Without directly naming Pakistan, the Army Chief issued a strong message on India’s combat preparedness and the growing integration of the Army, Air Force and Navy in modern warfare strategy.

“The Indian Army and all three services are preparing well for Operation Sindoor 2.0, if the need arises,” he said. “At present, our focus is on strengthening synergy among the three services and equipping ourselves continuously for next-generation warfare.”

General Dwivedi emphasised that future conflicts will be shaped not only by firepower, but also by technology, surveillance, cyber capability and real-time intelligence sharing.

“The battlefield today is extremely transparent. Almost every movement is visible to the other side through satellites, drones, sensors and surveillance systems. Therefore, we must remain highly cautious in our deployment, operational planning and the protection of both troops and civilians in border areas,” he said.

Explaining the concept of next-generation warfare, the Army Chief pointed to the increasing role of drones, artificial intelligence, cyber warfare, electronic warfare, space-based surveillance and information operations in modern military conflicts. He stressed that future wars would involve integrated operations across land, air, sea, cyber and space domains rather than conventional battlefield engagements alone.

General Dwivedi also highlighted the importance of information warfare, saying national unity and public trust are now critical components of strategic success.

“Information warfare succeeds only when the entire nation stands together and trusts the institutions and individuals communicating that information. A nation whose people trust one another and its institutions will always prevail,” he said.

India launched Operation Sindoor during the night of May 7–8, 2025, as a major retaliatory military response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. The operation followed the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, where Pakistan-backed terrorists opened fire in the Baisaran Valley, killing 26 civilians.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
