India beat Bangladesh by 41 runs on Sunday to win the inaugural edition of the ACC U19 Women’s Asia Cup, which was played in Kuala Lumpur. The Indian spin trio of Parunika Sisodia, Aayushi Shukla, and Sonam Yadav combined to pick up seven wickets in the summit clash and help India successfully defend the target of 118 runs by dismissing the Bangladeshi team for just 76 runs in 18.3 overs.

For India, Aayushi accounted for the dismissal of three Bangladeshi batters for 17 runs in her quota of 3.3 overs, and two opposition batters each were sent back to the pavilion by Sonam and Parunika, who conceded 13 and 12 runs, respectively.

Earlier in the first half of the match, after coming out to bat first, India rode on opener G. Trisha’s 52-run knock to post a total of 117 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Apart from Trisha, Mithila scored 17 runs for the Niki Prasad-led side. The right-handed batter hammered two boundaries in the final over of India’s innings, which was bowled by Farjana.

For Bangladesh, pacer Farjana accounted for the dismissal of four Indian batters in the Final. In her first spell she dismissed Kamilini and Sanika, and in the third over she got the better of Trisha. She completed her four-wicket haul by removing Mithila on the penultimate ball of India’s innings. She finished the match with figures of 4/31 in four overs.

Apart from her, Nishita picked up two wickets for the Bangladeshi team, and one Indian batter was dismissed by Habiba.
