Indian para athlete Sharmila Dhankar scripted history at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland, by winning the gold medal in the Women’s Shot Put F57 event, becoming the first Indian athlete to secure a gold medal in para athletics at this edition of the Games.

“My preparation is complete. I received tremendous support from the federation as well as my fellow athletes throughout my training. I am confident that I will win a medal this time,” she had said.
