The government has appointed Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh, who is currently the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, to serve as the next Chief of the Air Staff.
Amar Preet Singh will succeed Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari
Amar Preet Singh will be promoted to Air Chief Marshal on September 30, 2024, in the afternoon. He will succeed Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC, who will retire on the same date.
Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh assumed the role of the 47th Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force on February 1, 2023. He started his career in the Indian Air Force in 1984.

Singh joined the IAF in 1984
Singh joined the fighter stream of the IAF on December 21, 1984 after being commissioned. Before assuming command of the esteemed Central Air Command (CAC), he served as the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Eastern Air Command.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College in Wellington, and National Defence College, Singh has served in important positions such as Flight Commander and Commanding Officer of a MiG-27 squadron, and Air Officer Commanding of an air base.
In his career, he received the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal in 2019 and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal in 2023.
