The Indian Consulate in Jeddah has conveyed its sympathies following the deaths of nine Indians in a road accident close to Jizan, in Saudi Arabia’s Western Region.
In a statement, the consulate promised complete assistance to the impacted families and stated that it is communicating with both local officials and the victims’ families.
15 people including nine Indians killed in road accident
In a tragic event, 15 individuals, among them nine Indian citizens, lost their lives in a road mishap close to Jizan in western Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.
The details were provided by the Indian mission located in Jeddah.
“We deeply mourn the tragic loss of 9 Indian nationals in a road accident, near Jizan, in the Western Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Our heartfelt condolences to the families affected,” said the mission in a post on X.

“The Consulate General of India in Jeddah is providing full support and is in touch with the authorities and families,” reads the statement.

As per reports, the incident occurred while the 26 workers were on a bus heading to their job site in the southern port city of Jizan, when their bus crashed into a trailer.
“The road accident took place just before 6 a.m. on Sunday in the Wadi bin Hashbal region of Asir province, located south of the holy city of Mecca,” reported Ahram Online, citing Saudi Red Crescent spokesman Ahmed Asiri, who was quoted by the official Saudi Press Agency quoted.
Of the 15 individuals who lost their lives, nine were from India, while the other six comprised three each from Ghana and Nepal. The injured individuals have been swiftly taken to the hospital.
