Indian-origin woman Anita Mukhey stabbed to death in London
A 66-year-old Indian woman was fatally stabbed at a bus stop in north-west London. The incident occurred on May 9, at approximately 11.50 a.m. (London local time). The accused, a 22-year-old guy, was charged with murder and remanded in custody during a hearing on Tuesday.
Anita Mukhey, a part-time medical secretary for the National Health Service (NHS), was waiting at the Burnt Oak Broadway bus stop in London’s Edgware neighborhood when Jalal Debella fatally stabbed her in the chest and neck last week.
Mukhey succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

Later the police was called, Debella was taken into custody in the Colindale neighborhood of north London on suspicion of murder the same day.
He was charged with Mukhey’s murder and also with possession of an offensive weapon.
Commenting on the incident, the Metropolitan Police said that the suspect showed up at London’s Old Bailey Court and would enter a plea of guilty or not guilty at the case’s upcoming August hearing, according to news agency PTI.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) told the court that the preliminary cause of death was found to be sharp force injuries to the front of the chest and neck.
Motive of the murder
While it is unknown what happened exactly, according to the BBC, on May 9, Mukhey was standing at the bus stop when 22-year-old Jalal Debella approached her. Following a brief exchange between them, Debella slapped and punched him Mukhey grabbed Debella and began shaking her “like a rag doll” before stabbing her.
According to a PTI report, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) found that the preliminary cause of death was found to be sharp force injuries to the front of the chest and neck.
The family of the Indian woman issued the following statement through the police: “Anita Mukhey, 66, was a married mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family. She also worked part-time as a Medical Secretary in the NHS.” The family requests privacy during this trying time.”
