Claiming that minorities were the most secure in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that a Muslim family would feel safe among a hundred Hindu families, but not the other way around.
In an ANI podcast, Adityanath stated that 50 Hindus cannot feel secure with 100 Muslim families and referenced the circumstances in Bangladesh, where there have been multiple attacks on minorities and temples in the past few months.
“A Muslim family is the safest among a hundred Hindu families. They will have the freedom to practice all their religious deeds. But can 50 Hindus be safe among 100 Muslim families? No. Bangladesh is an example. Before this, Pakistan was an example,” the fiery BJP leader said.
Following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina-led government in Bangladesh last August, there have been focused assaults on Hindus, and several priests have been detained. Minority residences have been plundered, and more than 150 places of worship have been defaced by Islamic extremists.

Adityanath, whose administration marked eight years in office this week, stressed that communal riots in Uttar Pradesh have ceased since the BJP took power in 2017. He also emphasized that as a Yogi, he desired “the happiness of all”.
“In Uttar Pradesh, Muslims are the most secure. If Hindus are secure, then they are likewise secure. If there were disturbances in UP prior to 2017, where Hindu shops were set ablaze, then Muslim shops were also on fire. If Hindu homes were ablaze, then Muslim homes were also ablaze. And the riots ceased after 2017,” he remarked.
