NEW DELHI: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once again highlighted the strong and growing ties between India and Israel on Friday, saying the Jewish state receives “crazy love” from India even as much of the world attempts to “delegitimise” Israel.

Addressing an event, Netanyahu described India as one of Israel’s closest and most dependable partners on the global stage.

“We have a unique relationship with a huge power called India. In India, there’s support for Israel,” Netanyahu said.

Referring to mounting international criticism faced by Israel amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, the Israeli Prime Minister added, “We face delegitimisation in much of the world — but not in India.”

“In India, there is an absolutely crazy love for Israel, truly crazy. I think I have more followers from India than from anywhere else,” he remarked, drawing attention to the widespread support Israel enjoys among many Indians, particularly on social media platforms.

Netanyahu’s latest comments once again underscored the close personal rapport between him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as the deepening strategic partnership between the two countries in areas ranging from defence and security to technology, agriculture and trade.

Earlier this year, during PM Modi’s visit to Israel in February, Netanyahu had shared a personal anecdote involving his wife Sara and an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv while addressing a joint press conference with the Indian Prime Minister.

“I have to say at the end of this visit that I owe India — I don’t know if I told you this, Narendra — but I owe India a great personal debt,” Netanyahu had said with a smile.

“You see, when I met Sara for the first time, I think our first or second date was in an Indian restaurant in Tel Aviv,” he added, drawing laughter from the audience.

The remark had reflected not only the warmth between the two leaders but also the cultural affinity Netanyahu has often expressed towards India.

India and Israel have significantly expanded bilateral cooperation over the last decade, with both leaders frequently praising each other’s leadership and emphasising shared democratic values and strategic interests.

Netanyahu’s latest praise for India comes at a time when Israel continues to face sharp criticism in several parts of the world over its military actions and regional policies. Despite global divisions on the issue, India has continued to maintain strong diplomatic and strategic engagement with Israel while also reiterating support for peace and stability in the region.

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
