‘Will appear before the SIT on May 31’: Prajwal Revanna

Prajwal Revanna, a Karnataka MP and Janata Dal (Secular) politician who left the nation due to sexual harassment claims, has stated that he will appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31.

In a video message, Prajwal Revanna stated, “Don’t misunderstand me; on the 31st at 10 a.m., I will be in front of the SIT and will cooperate.” I trust the judiciary, and these are fake accusations against me. “I trust the law.”

The 33-year-old Hassan MP is accused of sexually abusing women. He departed the nation on April 26 after videos of him sexually assaulting many women surfaced.

Terms the allegations as ‘a political conspiracy’

Prajwal Revanna described the claims as “a political conspiracy” and stated that he was in “depression and isolation”. He also apologized to his family and party workers for not disclosing his whereabouts.

“I want to apologise to my family members, my Kumaranna [uncle HD Kumaraswamy], and the party workers for not providing proper information about my whereabouts abroad. On April 26, when the elections were over, there was no case against me. The SIT wasn’t formed. Two or three days after I left, I saw these allegations against me on YouTube. I also wrote to the SIT via my lawyer asking for seven days’ time,” he said.

Prajwal Revanna further stated that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other opposition leaders openly discussed his issue, claiming, “This is a political conspiracy.”

The JD(S) is a member of Karnataka’s BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

“I apologise as I went into depression and into isolation,” he said.

On May 18, a Special Court for Elected Representatives issued an arrest warrant for Prajwal Revanna in response to the SIT’s motion. Interpol has previously issued a ‘Blue Corner Notice’ requesting information on his location in response to the SIT’s request through the CBI.

Prajwal, the son of JDS MLA HD Revanna, was last seen in Germany. His declaration comes three days after JD(S) patriarch and his grandfather HD Deve Gowda issued a strong warning, requesting that he return to India and surrender to the authorities.

Last week, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting to cancel the diplomatic passport of Prajwal.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
