Indigo flight gets bomb threat at IGI Airport, Delhi

An IndiGo flight destined for Varanasi got a bomb threat today at Delhi’s airport, leading police to investigate the jet, according to officials.

The flight, 6E2211, was set to depart from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport around 5 a.m. but was stopped on the runway minutes before takeoff.

“At 05:40 am, a phone call was received from the IGI airport regarding a bomb threat. A message ‘BOMB BLAST @30 MINUTES’ was written on a piece of paper inside the lavatory of the flight and was found by the pilot,” an official said.

The airplane, which had 176 passengers on board, was immediately brought to the isolation bay for further action, according to the official, who also stated that a quick response team was dispatched and that no suspicious items had been discovered thus far.

The official stated that all passengers deboarded using the emergency door and are safe.

IndiGo also issued an official statement, stating that the aircraft was moved to a secluded bay in accordance with airport security procedures.

“The flight is currently undergoing inspection. Post completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” the airline said.

Similar incident occurred in Air India flight earlier this month

Earlier this month, a tissue paper with the word ‘bomb’ scribbled on it was discovered in an Air India flight restroom at Delhi Airport, but it turned out to be a fake.

Police said they received information about a tissue paper found in the lavatory of an Air India flight planned to travel for Vadodara on May 15 that had the word ‘bomb’ scribbled on it.

“Following standard security protocols, a thorough inspection was conducted, and no suspicious items were found,” an official had said.

Several hospitals and institutions in Delhi have recently been targeted with bomb threat emails alleging the presence of explosives on their grounds. However, investigators determined that the threats were false alarms.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
