Star batter Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a massive record in ODIs as he prepares to compete in India’s three-match series with England.
The 36-year-old batsman has the opportunity to become the quickest to reach the milestone of 14,000 runs in ODIs. In February 2006, the iconic Sachin Tendulkar achieved a milestone in his 350th ODI innings during the game against Pakistan in Peshawar, scoring 100 runs despite India losing by seven runs (DLS).
Kohli presently has 13906 runs in 283 ODI innings to his name, boasting an average of 58.18 at a strike-rate of 93.54, along with 50 centuries and 72 half-centuries.
In the ODI series against Sri Lanka last year, Kohli scored 58 runs across three matches, averaging 19.33, with performances of 24, 14, and 20. Since the World Cup final on November 19 versus Australia, Kohli has participated in just three ODIs.

Virat Kohli has not been in the best of form recently and will be eager to regain his form. He made a century in the second innings of the Perth Test versus Australia but had difficulty scoring runs in the other matches.
He also couldn’t reach double digits on his Ranji Trophy return after 12 years when Railways’ Himanshu Sangwan got him out cheaply. During the ODIs against England, Kohli will look regain his peak form ahead of the crucial Champions Trophy.
India’s ODI series versus England, led by Jos Buttler, kicks off on Thursday, February 6, with the first match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.
The second and third ODIs will take place at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack and Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 9 and 12, respectively.
