A hit-and-run incident in Vadodara, Gujarat, on Thursday night resulted in a woman’s death and injuries to seven others, alarming the nation, especially since the suspect exited the vehicle and yelled, “Another round? Another round?”

Rakshit Ravish Chaurasia, 20, the driver of the fast-moving Volkswagen that crashed into multiple two-wheelers, resulting in Hemali Patel’s death and severe injuries to her husband, was thrashed by locals and taken into custody by the police. He was brought before the court and sent to one day of police custody.

In the viral video that appeared on social media, Chaurasia was shown exiting the vehicle after the accident while appearing to be inebriated. He started yelling while he strolled along the road. Among various things he exclaimed, he consistently repeated, “Another round, another round!” and “Om Namah Shivay.”

It has now been revealed that this was not Chaurasia’s first encounter with the law. According to a report from The Times of India, the 20-year-old law student had previously been arrested by police for causing a disturbance at a residential apartment, just under a month prior to the shocking incident in Vadodara.

Chaurasia and his companions were said to have assembled in a building that housed a lawyer’s office, where they caused a disturbance. The attorney, disturbed by the commotion, requested them to lower their volume, but Chaurasia and his companions reportedly threatened and insulted them.

The attorney ultimately contacted the police when the building’s residents confronted Chaurasia and his companions. They were brought to the police station, where they had to provide a written apology before being permitted to leave. No police report was made because both sides came to a reported agreement.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
