Trump Hid in Catering Truck for Secret Flight Out of Turkey

The covert flight came amid heightened tensions with Iran and growing concerns over threats against the U.S. president, highlighting the extraordinary security measures surrounding Trump's international travel.

A secret aircraft switch reportedly carried Donald Trump out of Turkey aboard a U.S. Air Force C-32A after security officials received an Iranian threat, while the White House publicly suggested he was flying on Air Force One.

August 11, 2026: A covert change in U.S. President Donald Trump’s travel arrangements during his recent Turkey visit reportedly involved moving him from Air Force One to a smaller military aircraft, amid concerns over a potential threat from Iran.

According to The Washington Post, Trump was secretly transferred to a U.S. Air Force C-32A before leaving Ankara, despite the White House publicly indicating that he would travel to Britain aboard an older Air Force One.

Trump had arrived in the Turkish capital for the NATO summit aboard the newly refurbished Boeing 747 donated by Qatar. The aircraft’s first overseas journey came as tensions between Washington and Tehran were escalating, with Iran sharing a border with Turkey.

The switch reportedly took place after Trump prepared to leave Ankara. Cameras captured him boarding an older Air Force One, reinforcing the impression that the aircraft would carry him to Britain.

Instead, Trump was allegedly moved through the airport inside a catering truck and transferred to the smaller C-32A, The Post reported, citing a U.S. official familiar with the operation and another person briefed on the president’s travel.

The C-32A subsequently flew to Britain, arriving at about 10:20 p.m. The older Air Force One, along with members of the traveling press corps, reached the same destination only minutes later.

Trump had previously written on Truth Social that he intended to use the older “baby blue” Air Force One “for old time’s sake” for the flight from Ankara to RAF Mildenhall. The newer Qatari aircraft was also scheduled to stop at the British base, where American military personnel were expected to tour the plane.

The public itinerary therefore gave no indication that Trump would actually be traveling aboard a third aircraft.

The reported operation came as U.S. security officials were dealing with concerns about threats against the president, including those linked to Iran. Moving Trump onto a different aircraft could make his movements more difficult to predict and track.

The C-32A, a military variant of the Boeing 757, is operated by the U.S. Air Force for senior government officials and presidential travel. Unlike the highly recognizable presidential Boeing 747s, the smaller aircraft can be used for more discreet movements.

The White House did not directly confirm or deny the reported aircraft switch. Communications Director Steve Cheung instead stressed the security measures surrounding Trump’s travel.

“The President has said recently, there are many enemies of America who have their sights on him, and we use every tool at our disposal to address those threats,” Cheung said.

Cheung also said the aircraft donated by Qatar had been fitted with extensive security measures designed to protect Trump and members of his staff.

The reported flight underscores the complexity of presidential security arrangements, particularly when the president is traveling through a region facing heightened geopolitical tensions. Iran borders Turkey, while Ankara maintains diplomatic ties with both Tehran and Washington.

The Pentagon did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the reported operation.
