MUMBAI/ October 18: Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after unidentified individuals allegedly opened fire at his car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18, triggering a police investigation and fresh concerns over threats against personalities in the film industry.

According to The Indian Express, the incident took place near Pushpa Park while Shroff was on his way to play football. The actor did not sustain any bullet injuries. Mumbai Police are investigating the shooting and attempting to identify those responsible.

The incident took on a more serious dimension after an audio recording reportedly began circulating in which a man claiming to represent the Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly took responsibility for the attack. The speaker, who reportedly identified himself as Anil Pandit, is said to have linked the alleged targeting of Shroff to his professional association with actor Salman Khan.

The recording also reportedly contained threats directed at others in the Mumbai film industry who work with Khan. However, the authenticity of the recording and the identity of the person speaking in it have not been independently established. The alleged gang connection and the motive behind the shooting should therefore be treated as unverified claims, not as confirmed findings of the police.

The gang has previously claimed responsibility for attacks connected to prominent figures in the entertainment industry. In February 2026, a shooting outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence also brought renewed scrutiny to threats against Bollywood personalities.

Whether Sunday’s firing was connected to that wider pattern remains unclear. Police have yet to publicly establish the attackers’ identities, the motive or any confirmed link to an organised criminal group.

For now, the central questions remain unanswered: who opened fire at Shroff’s car, whether the actor was deliberately targeted, and whether the audio recording represents a genuine claim of responsibility or an attempt to exploit the incident.

The investigation will need to establish those facts before responsibility can be attributed.
