PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, put on an impressive display to progress to the women’s singles final of the Syed Modi International Super 300 tournament. The number one seed easily won against fellow Indian and up-and-coming player Unnati Hooda in two sets, with a score of 21-12, 21-9, in a quick 36 minutes.
Sindhu demonstrated her superiority by taking advantage of Hooda’s mistakes and maintaining flawless control during the entire match.
“I am pleased with how I did today. I held the lead from the start. I was simply experimenting with some moves and, in general, I felt positive about my gameplay. I believe Unnati performed at her peak, but I didn’t allow her to surpass me. She is a promising player, and I hope for her success. I must return and get ready for tomorrow as it will be challenging. I have to give my best from the start,” Sindhu said after the win.
Sindhu showcased her experience and precision with a win in the semifinals. In the first match, she gained an early lead by hitting cross-court shots accurately and taking advantage of Hooda’s difficulty in making long returns.
In the opening round, Sindhu led 11-8 and maintained her advantage with her steady performance. In the second game, Sindhu extended her lead to 11-4 and secured the match with a precise finish, making it even more one-sided.

They defeated China’s Zhi Hong Zhou and Jia Yi Yang in two straight games, with scores of 21-16, 21-15. The Indian pair is now waiting for the result of the other semifinal to find out who they will face in the final.
Having previously won the world championship, Sindhu will compete in the final for her third Syed Modi International title against either Thailand’s Lalinrat Chaiwan or China’s Wu Luo Yu. Sindhu’s recent performances have sparked optimism among her supporters for future impressive wins.
