BJP state chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule has declared that the new government’s swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 5 amidst continued anticipation surrounding who will be Maharashtra’s next Chief Minister.
Speaking to X, Chandrashekhar informed that the inauguration event will take place at 5 pm at Azad Maidan in Mumbai. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present at the event.
“In Maharashtra, the Mahayuti Government is having their oath-taking ceremony. The event will take place with the esteemed presence of the world’s pride, Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 5 PM at Azad Maidan, Mumbai,” he said.
Friday, instead of meeting with Mahayuti bloc partners, Shinde decided to cancel and travel to his hometown. Shinde Sena stated that Eknath Shinde was experiencing poor health.

With Shinde in Satara, talks on portfolio distribution and Chief Minister’s position were additionally postponed.
On Thursday, in an attempt to resolve the impasse on the Chief Minister’s position, Eknath Shinde, along with BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, visited Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence in Delhi. Nevertheless, the meeting concluded without reaching a decision, prolonging the stalemate.
In the recent assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance achieved a remarkable win by winning 230 out of 288 seats. The BJP secured the most seats at a historic 132, while Shinde Sena and the NCP led by Ajit Pawar followed with 57 and 41 seats each.
Yet, a week after crushing the opposition, the Maha Vikas Agadhi (MVA) has not yet determined the allocation of roles.
