Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Moscow
Prime Minister Narendra Modi landed in Moscow on Monday for a two-day visit, where he would meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and discuss a variety of issues. This is Prime Minister Modi’s first visit to Russia in over five years.
PM Modi took a flight from Delhi at 10.30 a.m. today and arrived at Moscow’s Vnukovo-II International Airport at 5.10 pm. Denis Manturov, Russia’s first deputy prime minister, received him.
Notably, Manturov is senior to the Deputy Prime Minister, who welcomed Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Russia. In an unusual gesture, Manturov will drive the PM to the hotel from the airport in the same automobile.
The Russian military also provided a guard of honour for PM Modi upon his arrival.
