Prime Minister Narendra Modi meets T20 World Cup winning Team India

On Thursday, the Indian cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for breakfast at his residence on Lok Kalyan Marg in New Delhi. During the hour-long meeting, PM Modi thanked the squad that won the T20 World Cup.

The T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad landed at No. 7, Lok Kalyan Marg, around 11 a.m. IST. After a loud welcome at ITC Maurya, the players and support staff left the hotel. Captain Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, and Virat Kohli were seen cutting a special cake provided by the hotel’s kitchen.

According to India Today, PM Modi urged the team to go on a title-winning binge, expressing optimism that the T20 World Cup victory in Barbados will inspire them to perform well in future competitions.

In a video, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian cricket team players are seen laughing while reminiscing about the World Cup campaign. As the players sat with the Prime Minister, Rahul Dravid, the head coach, also spoke. PM Modi smiled throughout the video, obviously enjoying the players’ anectodes. Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya all spoke at the meeting.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah and president Roger Binny also attended the breakfast meeting with the Indian cricket team.

Team India to go on a open-top bus parade in Mumbai

The Indian team left the Prime Minister’s residence and returned to the New Delhi airport, from which they would go to Mumbai for an open-top bus parade.

As they left for their meeting with PM Modi, the Men in Blue wore a bespoke India jersey with the word ‘Champions’ emblazoned on it. According to reports, PM Modi invited the players for a special brunch where he heard about their World Cup experiences in the United States and the Caribbean. On Saturday, India overcame South Africa in the final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, winning their second T20 World Cup title.
