PV Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, kept her dreams of winning a third medal alive on Wednesday. Sindhu made no sweat as she advanced to the Round of 16 in Women’s Singles badminton at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Wednesday, July 31.
Sindhu, seeded 10th at the Paris Olympics, put on a clinical show against Estonia’s 73rd-ranked Kristin Kuuba in her final Group M match.
Sindhu tops Group M with 4 points
Sindhu defeated Kuuba on Court 1 of La Chapelle Arena in just over 30 minutes, 21-5, 21-10. She led the three-woman Group M with four points from two matches, going unbeaten throughout the group stage. Sindhu began her campaign on Sunday with a smooth straight-game victory over Abdul Razzaq Fathima and has yet to lose a game.

Sindhu went all out from the start against Kuuba
Sindhu started strong in her match against Kuuba, winning the first three points and taking an early lead. She increased her lead to six points with a net shot and a clever return, leaving Kuuba unable to answer.
Despite a few points for Estonia, Sindhu maintained control. Kuuba attempted an unusual drive shot but failed to keep it in limits, losing another point.
Sindhu momentarily lost a point owing to a delayed return, but quickly regained momentum with a cross-court drive to take a 13-point lead. Sindhu continued to dominate, pushing the lead to 18-3 before a long return gave Kuuba a rare point. Finally, Sindhu gained game point and easily won the first game with a score of 21-5.

Kuuba struggled to match Sindhu’s pace, making mistakes and dropping important points. Sindhu’s aggressive play, which included a quick smash and crisp drop strokes, gave her a commanding 15-6 lead. Sindhu’s domination on the court eventually secured her victory, as she won the match in straight games.
