Manu Bhaker kept India’s shooting hopes alive on a disappointing first day at the Paris Games. She finished third in the 10m air pistol women’s qualification and will now compete in the medal round.

Manu finishes in the third place with 580 points

Manu earned 580 points, while Hungary’s Veronika Major and South Korea’s Ye Jin Oh finished ahead of her with 582 points each. Rhythm Sangwan, another Indian participant in the event, ended 15th with 573 points.

The final of the 10m air pistol women’s event will take place on Sunday, and India has a good chance of capturing its first medal in Paris.

Meanwhile, Rhythm Sangwan finished 15th in the same event. She amassed a total of 573 points.

Bhaker earned Paris Olympic quota finishing 5th in 2023 Asian Shooting Championships

Manu had accumulated 292/300 by the halfway point of the six-series event, putting her in good position to qualify for the finals with a top-eight result.

Bhaker earned a Paris 2024 Olympic quota for India by coming fifth in the women’s 25m pistol event at the 2023 Asian Shooting Championships. Bhaker is the youngest Indian to win an ISSF World Cup gold medal, as well as a Commonwealth Games winner in the women’s 10m air pistol event on the Gold Coast in 2018, where she set a CWG record.

Who is Manu Bhaker?

Manu Bhaker, a well-known Indian sport shooter, has gained international recognition for her outstanding pistol shooting abilities.

Manu was born on February 18, 2002, in Jhajjar, Haryana, and has emerged as one of India’s most promising young shooting sportsmen.

Manu Bhaker upset Olympian and previous World no 1 Heena Sidhu at the 2017 national shooting championships. Manu defeated Sidhu with a record score of 242.3 in the 10m Air Pistol final.

She went on to earn a silver medal in the 2017 Asian Junior Championships, and the following year, Manu Bhaker had an impressive debut on the global platform.
