AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi chants ‘Jai Palestine’ during oath as Lok Sabha member
Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP, chanted “Jai Palestine” as he took his oath as a member of the 18th Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
Owaisi, who was sworn in as a Lok Sabha member for the sixth time, later stated in a post on X that he will continue to tackle concerns affecting India’s underprivileged people with sincerity.
As Asaduddin Owaisi prepared to take oath, BJP MPs began shouting the ‘Jai Shri Ram’ mantra. Despite the cries, Owaisi took his oath in Urdu and concluded with the words “Jai Bhim, Jai Meem, Jai Telangana, Jai Palestine”.

Owaisi had said ‘Jai Bhim, Allah-o-Akbar, and Jai Hind’ during oath in 2019
In 2019, Owaisi ended his oath with the words “Jai Bhim, Allah-o-Akbar, and Jai Hind”.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Owaisi defeated BJP candidate Madhavi Latha in the Hyderabad constituency by 3.3 lakh votes. As a dispute emerged over his slogan, Owaisi stated that there was no clause in the Constitution prohibiting him from chanting ‘Jai Palestine’.
Union Minister G Kishan Reddy claimed Owaisi’s ‘Jai Palestine’ slogan was “absolutely wrong” and violated the Constitution.
“On one hand, he is taking an oath in the name of the Constitution and, on the other, giving a slogan against the Constitution. The real face of Owaisi is out. Every day, they raise issues against the country and the Constitution,” Reddy said.
Kiren Rijiju condemns Owaisi’s slogan
In response to Owaisi’s slogan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated, “We do not support or oppose any country, but it is not right to take the name of any country in the House.”
When the war between Israel and Gaza broke out last year, Owaisi stated that the Palestinian crisis concerned not only Muslims but also humanity. He also referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “the devil”.
