Taking to X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “Spoke with Senior General H.E. Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar. Conveyed our deep condolences at the loss of lives in the devastating earthquake.”
PM Modi emphasized that India stands in solidarity during this difficult time. Modi said, “As a close friend and neighbour, India stands in solidarity with the people of Myanmar in this difficult hour.”

The Prime Minister stated that, as a component of Operation Brahma, disaster relief supplies, humanitarian assistance, and search-and-rescue teams are being rapidly sent to the impacted areas.
The ‘Operation Brahma’
Approximately 15 tonnes of aid supplies arrived in Yangon this morning as part of India’s ‘Operation Brahma’ to assist Myanmar after the devastating earthquake.
Randhir Jaiswal, a representative from the Ministry of External Affairs, stated, “Operation Brahma – India serves as a First Responder to help the people of Myanmar impacted by the massive earthquake yesterday. Our initial batch of 15 tonnes of humanitarian aid, consisting of tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food parcels, hygiene supplies, generators, and vital medications has arrived in Yangon.”
Over 1,000 individuals have died in Myanmar, with thousands more injured in the earthquake that was also sensed in nearby nations.
The majority of the deaths are in Mandalay, Myanmar’s second biggest city, and the area nearest to the earthquake’s epicenter.
At the same time, rescue teams are still racing to locate survivors in Myanmar and Thailand.
The earthquake has shattered structures and toppled bridges in multiple areas of Myanmar, while rescuers in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, are also digging through debris for workers trapped when a 30-storey skyscraper under construction fell.
