An official reported on Tuesday that a 20-year-old man was pursued and shot by around five attackers on a crowded street close to a police outpost in the Mishrana area of Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh.
He stated that the young man, recognized as Amogh Seth, a resident of Seth Colony in Hathipur, was quickly taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
A bookstore worker, Aditya Kashyap, sustained an injury to his hand when the assailants fired shots as the young people sought refuge inside the store, according to police. He is reported to be out of peril.
They stated that the attackers left the location on two motorcycles following the event, which occurred on Monday evening.
Prashant Kumar, the Lucknow range Inspector General (IG), patrolled the city that day with Kheri Superintendent of Police (SP) Sankalp Sharma to assess the law and order situation prior to Holi and examined the crime scene.
Speaking to reporters, the IG stated, “Initial investigation shows that the deceased youth reportedly had an altercation with another individual, Anmol Puri Bala. A comprehensive inquiry will be conducted, and the suspect will be apprehended shortly.”

The police have registered a case following a complaint from the father of the victim, Bharat Seth, who claimed that Anmol and five unknown accomplices shot his son and injured the shop employee.
Kheri SP Sankalp Sharma mentioned that multiple teams have been established to pinpoint the offenders, and they are reviewing the CCTV footage.
The wounded book and stationery store worker, Aditya Kashyap, currently receiving treatment at the district hospital, stated that the young man entered the shop seeking refuge. Amogh stated that the attackers shot at him, during which he was also hit in the hand.
