Election Commission on Saturday announced that the Lok Sabha election 2024 in Uttar Pradesh will be held in 7 phases from April 19 to June 1.

Since Uttar Pradesh sends eighty members of the Lok Sabha, it is regarded as the most influential state in politics. Political parties continue to place a high priority on the largest state in terms of votes since it has the potential to drastically alter their strategy. It is a common misconception that Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, is on the route to Delhi.

Important political parties in the state are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Samajwadi Party (SP). Other parties that add to the state’s dynamic political landscape are the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) and Communist Party of India (CPI). The BJP secured 62 seats in the state during the 2019 general election, while its ally Apna Dal (S) secured two seats. Mayawati’s BSP won ten seats, while Akhilesh Yadav’s SP managed to capture five. Congress, however, was only able to win one seat. It has 80 constituencies and a significant impact on the political climate of the country.

The Election Commission (EC) said that on June 4, the votes cast in the seven phases of the Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha election 2024 will be tallied and the results will be announced on the same day.

Voting in Phase 1 will be held on April 19, Phase 2 voting will take place on April 26, Phase 3 voting will occur on May 7, Voting in Phase 4 will take place on May 13, Phase 5 voting will be held on May 20, Phase 6 voting for May 25 and Phase 7 voting is scheduled for June 1.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
