The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) separated itself from the turmoil that unfolded during the RCB victory celebrations, placing full responsibility on the state government, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and event organizers for the disorder that resulted in a stampede outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, causing 11 fatalities.

In a statement, KSCA explained that it was not responsible for organizing the felicitation event and was not involved in crowd or gate management. The government made the choice to organize the event. The association stated, “It took place at Vidhana Soudha, not Chinnaswamy Stadium,” emphasizing that its connection to the stadium is restricted to renting the venue and cricket-related activities.

KSCA contended that the regrettable event was an accident brought on by an unexpected increase in the crowd and that no harmful intent could be ascribed to its members. “The petitioners should not be blamed for the failures in gate and crowd management, which were evidently the responsibility of RCB, the organizers, and the police,” it stated.

The Karnataka High Court is already handling the issue via a suo motu case. The cricket organization described it as a “grave injustice” by the police and government to label its officials as suspects.

The organization also highlighted that the police department’s own suspension orders held law enforcement accountable for not controlling the crowd, and cautioned against using KSCA as a convenient scapegoat.

This follows the Cubbon Park Police filing an FIR against RCB, the event management company DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and the KSCA.

Officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) submitted a writ petition in the High Court today, aiming to annul the First Information Report (FIR) lodged against them.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
