Patna, June 9: A court in Patna on Tuesday granted interim protection from arrest to popular educator and YouTuber Khan Sir in connection with a firing incident linked to vandalism at his coaching institute last week.
Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, had approached the civil court seeking anticipatory bail after being named in an FIR related to the incident at the Khan Global Studies Institute. His legal team argued that the case was part of a conspiracy aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
Following the court’s order, advocate Arvind Kumar Mahuar said Khan Sir would not be arrested until the next hearing and would fully cooperate with the ongoing police investigation.
The controversy stems from an incident on the night of June 2, when a group of 15–20 individuals allegedly vandalised the coaching centre by tearing down posters and pelting stones at the premises. CCTV footage reportedly captured the attack, as well as security guards later firing shots into the air.
Police subsequently detained two guards employed by the institute. During questioning, they allegedly told investigators that they had fired two rounds each from licensed .315-bore rifles after receiving instructions to do so. They also claimed that Khan Sir was present at the scene during the incident.

Based on the investigation, Patna Police named Khan Sir and two others in an FIR registered under sections related to attempt to murder and provisions of the Arms Act.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage, witness statements and forensic evidence collected from the scene to determine the sequence of events and establish individual responsibility. Police officials have indicated that further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.
The case has drawn significant public attention due to Khan Sir’s large following among students across India. Known for his affordable coaching programmes and popular online lectures, he has emerged as one of the country’s most recognisable educators, making the controversy a subject of intense discussion on social media and among the student community.
In the aftermath of the attack, Khan Sir accused individuals linked to a rival coaching institute of orchestrating the vandalism. Members of the rival institute, however, countered by alleging that the incident had been staged, further intensifying the dispute between the two coaching establishments.
The matter remains under investigation, with the court expected to hear the case again at a later date.
