Kangana Ranaut has claimed that she was among the first celebrities to face an industry-wide “ban” and alleged that she endured prolonged media exclusion along with multiple legal challenges during her career.
Her remarks come amid ongoing discussions around Ranveer Singh, who is currently in the spotlight following the massive success of the two-part blockbuster Dhurandhar. The actor has also been linked to controversy over his reported last-minute exit from Don 3, which recently led to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issuing a non-cooperation notice against him—though it has since been withdrawn.
Commenting on the situation, Ranaut said she could relate to the scrutiny and industry backlash, suggesting that similar patterns have existed in her own professional journey.
“They wanted to lock me up”
She said in an interview with Fever FM, alleging that she was subjected to coordinated efforts that led to legal troubles and attempts to imprison her.
She further claimed that she was “one of the first” to be banned in the industry, stating that she faced multiple court cases that kept her lawyer occupied with continuous hearings. Ranaut also alleged that she experienced a “media ban,” which she described as a significant period of exclusion from mainstream coverage.
Her comments have reignited debate around alleged industry boycotts, media narratives, and the treatment of high-profile film personalities in Bollywood.
Kangana Ranaut’s recent remarks about alleged industry bans and media exclusion have sparked a strong response from FWICE chief advisor Ashoke Pandit, who criticised her statements during a recent press conference.
Responding to Ranaut’s claims that she was “banned” by the film industry, Pandit dismissed her comments and said she was misrepresenting the issue. “A lot of people in the industry have started abusing us. Yesterday, Kangana also said something. They are not understanding the whole issue, and people are just commenting. Kangana also said that even I have been banned by the industry. I said, ‘You talk nonsense, that’s why I banned you.’ I don’t care. There is a big issue in the industry here. You don’t even know the issue. You are just saying things. We are not against Ranveer. We are talking about what has happened,” he stated.
The controversy has unfolded alongside ongoing discussions surrounding Ranveer Singh, particularly his reported last-minute exit from Don 3, which has become the central point of disagreement in the industry dispute. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had earlier issued a non-cooperation notice against Singh following allegations of financial loss related to the project, though the order was later withdrawn.
To ease tensions, the Producers Guild of India has reportedly stepped in, indicating plans to mediate between Singh and director Farhan Akhtar’s production company, Excel Entertainment, in an effort to resolve the matter amicably.
