Justice Sheel Nagu appointed Chief Justice of Punjab & Haryana High Court
Justice Sheel Nagu of the Madhya Pradesh High Court has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. Currently, he serves as the acting chief justice there.
He was born on January 1, 1965, and became an advocate in October 1987. He practiced constitutional, service, labor, and criminal law in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
He was appointed as a high court judge on May 27, 2011. In terms of case disposition, he has authored over 499 recorded judgments throughout his 12-year stint as a judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Justice GS Sandhawalia currently serves as acting Chief Justice of the court
On December 27, 2023, the Supreme Court collegium recommended that Justice Sheel Nagu be appointed as Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
Currently, Justice GS Sandhawalia serves as acting Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He was appointed on February 4, 2024. The seat of Chief Justice has been vacant since the retirement of Chief Justice RS Jha on October 13, last year. Between October and February, Justice Ritu Bahri served as acting chief justice before being named chief justice of the Uttarakhand High Court in February.
