While dealing with Israel, Iran is facing a crisis within its borders. There are reports of serious illness for Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, with his second son, Mojtaba Khamenei, selected to take over leadership of the Shia Islamic nation.

Reports suggest that Mojtaba might assume control prior to his father’s passing. This may have consequences for Iran, considering the circumstances in West Asia.

Iran International announced that Mojtaba Khamenei was selected in secret to take on the role of Iran’s supreme leader. Ynet News quoted a report from Iran International, a Persian-language media outlet associated with Iranian rebels.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

The Iran International report follows closely behind The New York Times article which revealed a clandestine power struggle in Iran to replace Ali Khamenei as the supreme leader.

Ali Khamenei, aged 85, has been experiencing a decline in his health for a while.

On October 4, he showed up in a public setting with a rifle next to him, to speak to Iranians and guide the prayers for Hasan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, who died in an attack by Israel.

Iran International reported that a sudden gathering of all 60 members of Iran’s Assembly of Experts was called on September 26 at the behest of Ali Khamenei.

“Despite initial opposition to both the decision and the process, the Assembly ultimately reached a unanimous agreement to designate Mojtaba as the successor following the leader’s and his representatives’ insistence, which allegedly included direct threats,” reported YNet News, quoting the Persian media outlet.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
