Famous West Indies all-rounder Sunil Narine, currently with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2025, entered an exclusive club of batters alongside Andre Russell on Saturday (March 22).
In the inaugural match of IPL 2025 for KKR against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens, Narine began the innings for the team led by Ajinkya Rahane and made 44 runs off 26 balls. While at the crease, the 36-year-old left-handed batsman struck five fours and three sixes.
The third six of the match, struck on the fifth ball of the 10th over of KKR’s innings off the bowling of Rasikh Salam Dar, enabled Narine to reach a century of sixes in the IPL for KKR. He is the third cricketer following Russell (206) and Nitish Rana (107) to hit 100 or more sixes in the world’s most lucrative franchise cricket league for the three-time titleholders.
Narine, who debuted in the IPL in the 2012 season under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir, showcased exceptional form last season.

For his outstanding performance with bat and ball in IPL 2024, Narine secured the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the season and was retained by the Shah Rukh Khan-owned franchise before the IPL 2025 mega auction.
In KKR’s opening match of IPL 2025, Narine partnered with captain Ajinkya Rahane to score 103 runs for the second wicket (Rahane made 56 runs off 31 balls).
