Lucknow Super Giants have gained a significant advantage in their IPL 2025 campaign, as star bowler Mayank Yadav has rejoined the team after recovering from injury. The fast bowler is expected to be back in games shortly. LSG revealed Mayank’s comeback through a special video on their social media platforms, igniting optimism among fans that this might provide the essential lift for their bowling line-up, which has faced difficulties thus far.
Mayank was excluded from both Team India and LSG’s IPL 2025 matches up to this point because of injuries to his back and toe. He had been receiving rehabilitation at the BCCI’s National Cricket Academy located in Bengaluru. The 22-year-old arrived at the team hotel on the night of Tuesday, April 15, and is said to be ready for LSG’s next match against Rajasthan Royals on April 19.
Mayank Yadav had a remarkable IPL 2024 season
Mayank Yadav experienced a standout IPL season in 2024, showcasing his impressive raw speed and precision. He delivered the fastest ball in the tournament’s history—a 156.7 kmph missile against RCB—and concluded the season with 7 wickets from 4 matches. His campaign was interrupted by a side injury, yet the potential was unmistakable.

His remarkable performances in IPL 2024 secured him his first call-up to the India T20I squad for the Bangladesh series later that year. He took 4 wickets in 3 games, highlighting his talent on the global platform. Nevertheless, a lumbar stress injury postponed his comeback to franchise play, preventing him from returning until now.
Following months of rehabilitation, Mayank is now back and may receive clearance to participate in Saturday’s crucial match against Rajasthan Royals—subject to final approval from LSG’s medical team.
Lucknow Super Giants are at the 5th spot on the Points Table
Although LSG has bounced back from an inconsistent beginning to IPL 2025—now positioned fifth on the points table with 4 victories and 3 defeats—their insufficient bowling depth continues to be a worry. Mayank’s comeback might offer a prompt resolution to that problem.
In a matchup against a Rajasthan Royals team that is also in the recovering phase, the young fast bowler could find the ideal environment to regain his rhythm and assist LSG in striving for an important victory.
