California, USA:
Apple on Tuesday rolled out the sixth developer beta of iOS 26, alongside updates for iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, macOS, and other platforms. With the public release expected in September, Beta 6 focuses on smaller refinements rather than sweeping changes but still delivers some notable updates, including new ringtones, a Camera app gesture reversal, and faster app animations.

Fresh Ringtones Spark Buzz
One of the most talked-about additions is half a dozen new ringtones, all variants of Apple’s iconic “Reflection” tone. The standout among early adopters is “Dreamer”, which has been described online as “crazy good,” “such a bop,” and “hard.” The addition might even convince some users to take their phones out of silent mode.
Camera Swipe Controversy Resolved
Earlier betas introduced a change to the Camera app’s mode-switching gesture that reversed the traditional swipe direction, frustrating users who were accustomed to Apple’s long-standing design. In Beta 5, Apple added a toggle in Settings allowing users to restore the “Classic Mode” gesture.
In Beta 6, Apple has removed that toggle altogether and reverted the Camera swipe direction back to its original behavior. This decision ends weeks of debate, signaling Apple’s willingness to reverse course on UI changes when user feedback is overwhelmingly negative.

Performance and Interface Improvements
Other refinements in iOS 26 Beta 6 include:
-
Faster app launches with smoother open/close animations.
-
Continued tweaks to Liquid Glass, Apple’s updated UI design language, enhancing both readability and visual “glassiness.”
-
More color dispersion when navigating between tabs using the magnifying glass-style selector.
-
Lock Screen and toggles now incorporating Liquid Glass effects.
New Onboarding Experience
Upon updating, users will see a new startup/onboarding flow, introducing Liquid Glass features, refreshed dark and clear icons, and redesigned app interfaces.

Stability and Public Beta Release
Beta 6 is reported to be more stable and noticeably faster than earlier builds, suggesting Apple is nearing final release readiness. As with all beta versions, it includes bug fixes but may also introduce new issues. Public beta testers can expect their own update shortly.
iOS 26 is set for public launch in September 2025, bringing these refinements and more to millions of iPhone users worldwide.
