On the second day of the fourth test in Ranchi, Shoaib Bashir destroyed India’s batting lineup, keeping England on track for a comfortable first innings lead.

The athletic off-spinner provided evidence for his selection for the game by limiting India to 219-7 on a hostile pitch where the ball was frequently maintained low with figures of 4-84.

One such delivery claimed the wicket of India’s in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (73), and the hosts, leading 2-1 in the five-match series, ended the day 134 runs behind England.

Kuldeep Yadav (17) and Dhruv Jurel (30) offered late fight with a 42-run partnership for the eighth wicket that remained unbroken.

“He was exceptionally intelligent. Joe Root, the batting stalwart for England, described Bashir as a fantastic young man to have in the group.

HIgh on success in series, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (73), fell victim to one great delivery from Bashir, and when day ended, the hosts, leading the five-match series 2-1, found themselves in dire straits and trailed England by 134 runs.

England made an incredible recovery under Root, going from a shaky 112-5 to an undefeated 122 before the tourists were bowled out for 353.

With a counterattacking 58 that included six sixes and nine fours, Ollie Robinson quickly reached his first test fifty.

After getting rid of Robinson and Bashir in the same over, Ravindra Jadeja (4-67) took out James Anderson to take the last English wicket.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
