On Tuesday, the government voiced worry about the arrest and refusal of bail for Chinmoy Krishna Das, the spokesperson for Bangladesh Sammilit Sanatan Jagran Jote. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized in a formal declaration that this event is part of a string of assaults on Hindus and other minority groups in Bangladesh, such as arson, looting, theft, vandalism, and desecration of religious locations.

Chinmoy Krishna Das, a Hindu monk from Bangladesh, was arrested for sedition and his bail request was turned down by the Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The court did not request Das’s remand, so the police ordered his transfer to judicial custody. It also ordered for him to receive all religious rights while in custody.

India criticized the violence against minorities protesting Das’s arrest and called on Bangladesh to protect the safety and rights of Hindus and other minority groups during peaceful gatherings.

India stated that those responsible for the crimes are still free, but Das is facing charges for peacefully expressing his demands.

“We have noted with deep concern the arrest and denial of bail to Shri Chinmoy Krishna Das,” the Ministry said in a statement.

Bangladeshi media reports stated that Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu was taken into custody for allegedly showing disrespect towards the Bangladeshi flag while speaking at a rally in October.

Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the President of Pundarik Dham in Bangladesh, was one of the 18 individuals accused of sedition for raising a saffron flag in Bangladesh.

He had arranged numerous demonstrations in Bangladesh to denounce what the protesters referred to as “crimes against fellow believers.”

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
