Javelin star Neeraj Chopra is thrilled that the India-Pakistan rivalry is elevating the sport to unprecedented levels.
In an exclusive talk with India Today, Neeraj stated that if javelin events are aired in both India and Pakistan, his competition with Arshad Nadeem could greatly benefit the sport.
Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra secured the first and second positions in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
In fact, 2024 marked the first occasion in the competition’s history when no European competitor placed in the top-3 in the men’s division at the Olympics.
During the interview, Neeraj showered accolades on his competitor, once more emphasizing the positive rivalry they share.
The Indian javelin star mentioned that numerous people on the javelin circuit were astonished by the impressive distance that Arshad achieved in Paris, but then explained the reasons for it. Neeraj stated that Arshad was an exceptional rival and wished for this competition to stand out in the realm of javelin.
Neeraj and Arshad are set to compete in the prestigious World Athletics Championship in 2025. The event is scheduled to take place in Tokyo during September.
