The Hyderabad murder case took another tragic turn after police found the body of the main accused, P Rajkumar, three days after he allegedly killed six people, including a minor girl, her mother, her grandmother, his wife, and his two young sons.
Residents of Penjarla village in Kothur mandal alerted police after spotting an unidentified body on the outskirts of the village. Officers found a bottle of herbicide lying beside the body. Police later confirmed that the deceased was Rajkumar.
Before disappearing on the night of July 10, Rajkumar reportedly recorded a video on his phone, switched it to airplane mode, called his father to confess to the murders, and fled.
Hyderabad Murder Case: Rajkumar Recorded a Video Before the Killings
Investigators recovered a 2-minute and 26-second video from Rajkumar’s phone. He recorded the clip on the evening of July 10, hours before the murders.
In the video, Rajkumar claimed he had suffered injustice and blamed the family of the minor girl for his financial losses. He alleged that their actions pushed him towards committing the murders and ending his own life. He also demanded legal action against members of the girl’s family, whom he named in the recording.
Rajkumar claimed he had lost agricultural land that was meant to be inherited by his two sons. He further alleged that the POCSO case registered against him was an attempt by the girl’s family to send him to jail.
He also admitted that he had lost interest in life and wanted to die.
Hyderabad Murder Case: POCSO Case Against Rajkumar
Police had booked Rajkumar under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in May this year. The case followed allegations that he stalked and harassed the minor girl after her family filed a complaint.
Despite the charges, Rajkumar had recently secured anticipatory bail.
Investigators are examining whether the case and the legal proceedings contributed to his actions.
Hyderabad Murder Case: Debt and Online Gambling Deepened the Crisis
Police investigations revealed that Rajkumar had been struggling with severe financial problems for several months.
According to officials, he developed an addiction to online betting and gambling. He reportedly accumulated debts of more than ₹2 crore and used 16 SIM cards along with multiple mobile phones to manage his betting activities.
Family members told police that Rajkumar had already sold his share of agricultural land to repay a large portion of the debt. However, his financial condition continued to deteriorate.
Police also revealed that Rajkumar had attempted suicide in October last year by consuming pesticide after falling into heavy debt. He survived that attempt.
Hyderabad Murder Case: Police Reconstruct the Final Hours
Police believe Rajkumar carried out the murders across two locations on July 10.
Investigators allege that he stabbed and slit the throats of six victims. The victims included his wife, his two sons aged four years and one-and-a-half years, the minor girl, her mother, and her maternal grandmother.
Police said Rajkumar allegedly took the minor girl in a car to his native village of Dhaivalguda and killed her near a lake.
After the murders, he reportedly called his father, confessed to the killings, informed him that he planned to end his own life, and switched off his phone. His parents immediately informed the police.
Hyderabad Murder Case: Massive Manhunt Ends with Discovery of Rajkumar’s Body
Police launched a large-scale search operation after the murders. Authorities formed 12 special teams and announced a ₹2 lakh reward for information leading to Rajkumar’s arrest.
The search ended when villagers discovered his body on the outskirts of Penjarla village. Police recovered ₹1,260 in cash and a bottle of herbicide from the scene.
Future City Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi said officers identified the body based on Rajkumar’s clothing, physical features, and confirmation from family members.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police suspect Rajkumar died after consuming herbicide, although they are awaiting the post-mortem report for confirmation.
Commissioner Tarun Joshi said the evidence at the scene suggests that Rajkumar may have consumed the herbicide before his death.
The post-mortem findings will establish the exact cause of death and complete the investigation into one of the most disturbing Hyderabad murder case incidents in recent years.
