Army schools were shut due to terror threats yesterday
A large number of educational institutions, including Army Public and Goodwill Schools, as well as Kendriya Vidyalayas, have been closed as a precautionary measure due to the high alert level and the approaching Independence Day.
Sources said that the decision was taken after intelligence agencies issued specific alerts regarding possible terror attacks on schools, reported news agency KNO.

Two Over Ground Workers were arrested for supporting terror activities
The development came after security personnel arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) for allegedly aiding terrorist activities.
authorities added that in their continued attempts to combat terrorist activities, Kathua Police at PS Malhar apprehended two OGWs who were also discovered to have willfully concealed critical information by failing to report it to authorities on time.

According to defense officials, in response to the terror threats, security forces have instructed school administrators to keep the institutions closed for the safety of the students.

The decision came at a time when Jammu witnessed many engagements between militants and security personnel, raising security concerns in the region, and security forces bolstered up its apparatus to ensure ‘incident-free’ Independence Day festivities.
According to press reports, “Due to increasing terrorist activities in Jammu region, the local administration and security agencies have jointly decided that all Army and Kendriya Vidyalaya and other contentment schools till further order,” stated a representative. “The decision aimed to keep children, teachers and school staff safe from potential threats” .
