Today, on October 5th, the Haryana legislative Assembly elections are ready to take place in all 90 constituencies with approximately 20 million eligible voters. Voting will commence at 7 in the morning and end at 6 in the evening.

The outcome of the crucial election will determine if the BJP achieves a third consecutive win in the state or if the Congress party manages to regain control after a decade as the opposition, capitalizing on dissatisfaction with the current leadership, agricultural concerns, and recent demonstrations by athletes.

Besides the BJP and the Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the two alliances – Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP) – are also important participants in today’s single-phase voting.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) stated that a total of 1,031 candidates will be contesting across 20,632 polling booths during the upcoming election.

Pankaj Agarwal, the Chief Electoral Officer of Haryana, stated that a total of 2,03,54,350 voters are eligible to vote today, including 1,07,75,957 male voters, 95,77,926 female voters, and 467 third-gender voters.

The Chief Electoral Officer emphasized that there are a combined 29,462 police personnel, 21,196 home guards, and 10,403 Special Police Officers (SPO) currently stationed throughout the state. Every part of the state will be closely watched in order to ensure that citizens are able to vote without feeling scared.

PM Modi expressed confidence about BJP’s success

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed optimism about the BJP’s success in the Haryana assembly elections and stated that the patriotic people of the state will not support the “divisive and negative politics” of the Congress.

“The campaign for the Haryana assembly elections will end shortly. I have travelled all over the state in the last few days. The enthusiasm I have seen among the people gives me full confidence that the people of Haryana will once again give their blessings to the BJP. The patriotic people of Haryana will never accept the divisive and negative politics of the Congress,” Modi said.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
