On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) captured a Pakistani boat with six crew members that was transporting drugs valued at Rs 480 crore 350 km off the coast of Porbandar in the Arabian Sea.
According to an ICG statement on Tuesday, nearly 80 kg of illegal drugs were taken from the boat that was being transported to Porbandar for additional investigation.
Based on specific intelligence, the ICG, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), and the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) collaborated to carry out the operation.

On Monday, March 11, 24 the Indian Coast Guard placed its ships strategically in the Arabian Sea based on specific intelligence input from agencies. In order to find the boat in likely areas, ICG also gave its Dornier aircraft a task to scan. After a thorough search of the area, the ICG Ships and teams from ATS Gujarat and NCB arrived at the scene and positively identified the boat that was moving strangely in the dark.
The boat began to maneuver evasively when challenged by ICG ships, but they skillfully pursued it and forced it to stop. The boarding team boarded the ship right away to conduct initial inspections and inquiries.

Indian Coast Guard Foils Drug Smuggling Attempt, Apprehends Six-Person Pakistani Crew
The boat was discovered to be a six-person Pakistani boat crew. After the joint boarding team conducted an investigation and searched the boat, they found about 80 kg of drugs valued at about Rs 480 Cr.
The crew and boat have been captured, and they are being transported to Porbandar for additional examination. In the past three years, ICG, ATS Gujarat, and NCB have apprehended 10 cases totaling 517 kg of drugs valued at Rs 3135 crores.
