Andhra Pradesh Congress chief Gidugu Rudra Raju has has submitted his resignation to party President Mallikarjun Kharge. YS Sharmila, who recently joined the Congress, is likely to be appointed as the new state president, sources said.

YS Sharmila, the sister of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, joined the Congress on 4 January. While being inducted into the party in the presence of Kharge and Rahul Gandhi she was tipped to be the next APPC chief with a view to revive the Congress in the state.

Lauding the Congress, Sharmila said it is the largest secular party in the country since it unwaveringly serves all communities and unites all sections of people.

YS Sharmila had reaffirmed her support for the Congress before entering the party, and she refrained from running in the Telangana elections in order to avoid a vote split that may have favored former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

With Sharmila’s return to the Congress – her father’s party – she will be pitted against her brother YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Though she actively campaigned for the YSRCP when YS Jagan was in jail in a quid pro quo and even in 2014 and 2019 polls, the siblings fell out with each other over finances and denial of political space in AP to her.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
