Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday announced his party’s support for the INDIA bloc’s November 1 rally in New Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Dipke did not clarify whether he or other CJP leaders would share the stage with INDIA bloc leaders, including Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.
“GYANU MUST GO! The Cockroach Janta Party extends its support to the INDIA Bloc’s November 1 rally. Nation above all! #JaiBhim #JaiHind,” Dipke wrote on X.
He also shared a letter arguing that Kumar had lost the trust required to oversee free and fair elections. It called for the Chief Election Commissioner’s resignation, saying this was necessary to restore public confidence in the Election Commission’s credibility and independence.
The letter raised concerns over the SIR exercise, warning that eligible voters could be excluded from electoral rolls. It argued that the revision process should protect, rather than impede, citizens’ right to vote.
“Instead of making it easier for citizens to exercise their voting rights, we are witnessing growing fears of exclusion,” the letter stated. Invoking B.R. Ambedkar’s commitment to political equality, it said the Election Commission had a responsibility to safeguard every eligible citizen’s franchise.

The letter added that the Constitution guaranteed every adult citizen the right to vote and said the CJP would support organisations campaigning for free and fair elections.
The announcement follows an earlier CJP protest demanding Kumar’s resignation. On October 2, Dipke and party members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka were detained in Delhi before they could reach the protest venue.
Rahul Gandhi has been at the forefront of the Opposition’s campaign against the SIR process and the Chief Election Commissioner. The Congress leader had paused the agitation during the festive season. He had described the planned November 1 march as “Shivji Ki Baraat” and said people from different backgrounds were welcome to join.
The INDIA bloc’s rally is expected to bring together Opposition voices challenging the electoral roll revision process and raising concerns about the Election Commission’s role. The Election Commission’s position on the SIR and the allegations against its leadership remain central to the political dispute.
