A 45-year-old Delhi woman murdered inside her home in East Delhi’s Gagan Vihar, triggering a massive police investigation. The victim, identified as Komal, was found lying in a pool of blood on the second floor of her residence with a pair of scissors allegedly lodged in her neck.
The incident took place in the Jagatpuri police station area. Delhi Police have registered a case of murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched multiple teams to trace Komal’s husband, Kamal, who has been missing since the crime came to light.
CCTV Footage Raises Suspicion As Delhi Women Murdered
According to police sources, CCTV cameras installed outside the house allegedly captured Kamal leaving the premises at around 1:30 pm on a scooter while carrying a bag. Investigators are treating him as the prime suspect and are examining CCTV footage, forensic evidence and other technical clues to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Police have also questioned family members and neighbours as part of the ongoing investigation.
Son Discovers Mother’s Body
The murder remained unnoticed for several hours until Thursday night. Komal’s son, Gaurav, returned home from a library at around 9 pm and found the main gate locked from the outside.
Using a spare key, he entered the house and found his mother lying in a pool of blood. His father was nowhere to be found. After checking the CCTV footage, Gaurav allegedly saw his father leaving the house earlier that afternoon, prompting him to inform the police immediately.
Family Alleges Dowry Harassment and Extramarital Affair
Komal’s relatives alleged that the couple frequently fought over Kamal’s alleged extramarital relationship with another woman. They further accused him of subjecting Komal to dowry-related harassment over the years.
Police are verifying these allegations as part of their investigation and have not yet officially confirmed a motive behind the murder.
Family Background
Komal lived with her husband and their twin children, Gaurav and Gorvika, in a four-storey house in Gagan Vihar. The family occupied the second floor, while other relatives resided in different portions of the building.
She earned her livelihood by conducting tuition classes from home, while Kamal worked as a private tutor, visiting students at their residences.
Their son, Gaurav, has completed his MBBS degree and is preparing for postgraduate medical entrance examinations. Their daughter, Gorvika, is employed at a private company in Noida.
