A case has been filed against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra for making disparaging statements about National Commission of Women (NCW) chief Rekha Sharma.

Following the Women’s Commission’s complaint to the Delhi Police on Friday, a FIR was filed in the case.

NCW filed a complaint saying that Ms Mohua Mitra, MP, committed an offence under section 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) – 2023 by allegedly reposting a tweet (on social media platform X), according to police.

Delhi Police Special Cell registered the case after complaint

The Delhi Police Special Cell claimed that after taking cognizance of the complaint and conducting a preliminary examination of its contents, they opened a case and an inquiry.

The Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) team of the Delhi Police Special Cell will now obtain the X handle data from the social media platform where insulting language was sent at Rekha Sharma.

Police will then conduct a more thorough investigation, according to reports.

Moitra took a dig at Rekha Sharma’s arrival at the site of Hathras stampede

Moitra had commented on a video of Rekha Sharma’s arrival at the Hathras stampede site on Thursday.

The footage showed a man walking behind her, carrying an umbrella over her. The video was published on X, and one social media user questioned why Rekha Sharma couldn’t carry her umbrella.

Mahua Moitra responded to the post, writing, “She (Rekha Sharma) is too busy holding up her boss’s pajamas”.

POWER CORRIDORS

Former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu commended Power Corridors as a commendable news magazine, affirming that it not only upholds Media Dharma but also fulfills its societal obligations. Power Corridors, as its name implies, delves into realpolitik—examining the essence of influential circles, unraveling the intricacies of political maneuvers, and exploring the pulse of the state’s affairs. However, it transcends mere power dynamics, encompassing a broader spectrum of issues beyond the confines of Delhi’s elite circles.

For PC, which is published by the Interactive Forum on Indian Economy, not only highlights the issues of the day but also throws up what ought to be the subjects that the country should be debating about. It reports about the plans, strategies, and agendas of politicians and others; it also sets the agenda for the nation.
