The daughter of an injured Delhi Police Sub-Inspector claimed her father was dragged into a mob and left unconscious, while the wife of an injured ACP described the trauma their family endured after the violence.

New Delhi/ July 31, 2026: Family members of Delhi Police personnel injured during clashes with protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar have come forward with emotional accounts of the violence, alleging that officers were brutally attacked while on duty and later subjected to online vilification. They have also approached the Supreme Court seeking justice, arguing that police personnel and their families deserve the same legal protection as any other citizens.
In videos circulated on social media and reported by ANI, the daughter of a Delhi Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recounted the ordeal of her father, who was seriously injured during the protests. She said her father had served for 15 years as a Marine Commando in the Indian Navy before joining the Delhi Police and was deployed near the barricades at the main protest site.
According to her, her father had repeatedly told the family that the agitation had changed in character. “Whenever my father returned home after duty, he would say the protest no longer appeared to be a student movement. Many antisocial elements had become involved,” she said.
She alleged that on July 25, at around 2 p.m., a violent mob near the stage at Jantar Mantar dragged her father into the crowd and assaulted him. He allegedly lost consciousness and remained unconscious for nearly four hours while undergoing treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.
“My father’s colleagues brought him home around 10 p.m. His uniform was completely soaked in blood. It was heartbreaking for us to see him in that condition,” she said.

The daughter further claimed that, instead of receiving sympathy, her father was portrayed as a criminal on social media. She said she was distressed to learn that some of those accused of attacking police personnel had approached the Supreme Court and filed complaints against officers involved in handling the protests.
“I felt deeply hurt and decided that I, too, should seek justice for my father,” she said, adding that several families of injured police personnel had joined together to approach the Supreme Court. According to her, the advocate representing them assured the families that police personnel and their relatives were equally entitled to legal protection and justice.
In a separate video, the wife of a Delhi Police Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), who was also injured during the clashes with Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters on July 20, described the emotional impact of seeing her husband return home wounded after hours of duty.

“The moment he came home late that night, injured and exhausted, was extremely painful and traumatic for both me and our two-year-old daughter,” she said.
Accompanied by other family members of injured police personnel, she said they had decided to speak publicly to ensure that the sacrifices and suffering of police officers during the protests were also acknowledged.
The statements come amid ongoing legal proceedings over the police action during the protests. While several student protesters have approached the Supreme Court alleging excessive use of force by Delhi Police, families of injured officers have now sought judicial intervention from their perspective, contending that police personnel were also victims of violence while performing their official duties.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear matters relating to the protests and the allegations made by both protesters and police personnel in the coming days.
